Gamified Problem-Based Learning Platform with AI Grading

Saval is a gamification platform for problem-based learning and formative assessment. Teachers set real-world scenario challenges; students answer with text, code, or images; and Saval's AI grades every response against the rubric in seconds, returning scores, feedback, and live leaderboards during the lesson rather than weeks later. Free for teachers in schools and universities.

Saval — Gamified Problem-Based Learning Platform for Education

Unlike quiz tools where the game and the learning sit apart, Saval's game-based learning modes score students on genuine understanding — every point comes from an AI-graded answer to a real problem. Saval is aligned with UNESCO's AI Competency Frameworks for Teachers and Students.

What is problem-based learning?

It is a teaching approach in which students build knowledge by investigating an authentic, open-ended problem rather than memorising an answer before applying it. Learners identify what they need to know, test ideas, explain decisions, and refine solutions while the teacher guides the process. Saval delivers this approach through structured scenario challenges that can be answered with text, code, images, matching tasks, or selected responses. Teachers define the rubric and assessment settings, then use AI grading and live classroom views to check understanding as the lesson unfolds. This makes PBL practical for both K-12 schools and university courses without reducing a real-world problem to a recall-only quiz.

Problem-based vs project-based learning: what's the difference?

The two approaches differ in scope: problem-led instruction starts with a complex question or scenario and uses the reasoning process to develop subject knowledge, while project-led instruction usually extends across weeks and culminates in a substantial artefact, presentation, or public product. Teachers may choose the first for focused inquiry, discussion, and timely checks for understanding; they may choose the second when students need sustained planning, production, and revision. Saval is built for the first approach. Its scenario challenges, rubric-based AI grading, and live feedback help teachers run authentic investigations within a lesson or assessment. It does not claim to manage extended, multi-week projects, although a teacher can use insights from a Saval activity to inform later project work.

Is Saval free for teachers?

Yes. Saval offers a Free plan for individual teachers, and new teacher accounts receive a 30-day Enterprise trial. The trial opens the full feature set so an educator can test AI-assisted challenge creation, assessment modes, feedback, and analytics with a real class before choosing a plan. When the trial ends, teachers can compare the Free, Essential, Pro, and Enterprise options according to the classroom capacity and tools they need. There is no need to estimate costs from this page: the current plan features and USD prices are listed on the pricing page. This gives teachers in schools and universities a factual starting point for evaluating Saval.

How is Saval different from Kahoot?

Saval centres gamified assessment on students explaining and applying their understanding to real-world scenarios, with AI grading for responses that can include text, code, or images. Kahoot does quick, energetic whole-class participation well and is widely recognised for making question-based review easy to launch. Saval serves a different teaching need: deeper scenario work, rubric-aligned feedback, and live evidence of how students reason through a problem. Its competitive modes keep the pace and motivation of a classroom game while awarding progress for demonstrated understanding. Teachers comparing the two can review the capabilities, use cases, and trade-offs on the Saval and Kahoot comparison page.
